Marla D. Garcia

Ms. Garcia was born and raised in Rodeo, California, located in the Bay Area. After graduating high school, Ms. Garcia attended California State University, Sacramento, where she attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, with an emphasis in Criminology. During her University years, Ms. Garcia became interested in the law and its effects on society.

In 2009, Ms. Garcia moved to Fresno to attend law school at San Joaquin College of Law. Ms. Garcia was drawn to the Central Valley during visits and decided to make it her home. She was especially interested in the close-sense of community and the ability to engage with active professionals while studying the law. While attending law school, Ms. Garcia was hired as a law clerk at Perez, Williams, Medina & Rodriguez, LLP, where Ms. Garcia was able to put her academic achievements to use through practical legal experience.

Ms. Garcia graduated from San Joaquin College of Law, with distinction, in June 2013. Ms. Garcia was admitted to the California Bar in December 2013 and was offered an Associate Attorney position with Perez, Williams, Medina & Rodriguez, LLP, which she accepted. Ms. Garcia observed how the firm’s clients were given a fighting chance, instead of being ignored by those that caused them harm, and she desired to be a part of that.

Ms. Garcia volunteers at the Navidad en el Barrio Health Fair, an event that occurs every winter in downtown Fresno. This event provides free health screenings, information, food and gifts to low-income families in the community. Ms. Garcia began volunteering for this event in 2007, and continues every year. Ms. Garcia enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid runner, and enjoys the many hiking adventures that are available in the Valley. Ms. Garcia finds a legal career rewarding because she is always learning something new and she gets to meet a variety of people that she would not otherwise know.
